Smart Shoppers Shop Used
While the state of the nation’s economy remains troubled, it seems as if everyone is on the lookout for a good bargain. Aside from the usual garage sales, thrift shops are a great place to save a few bucks.
Northfield’s Used A Bit Shoppe offers everything from household furnishings, tools, toys & puzzles, collectables, home décor, and jewelry.
With all proceeds going to the Northfield Senior Center, Used A Bit is run mostly by volunteers. Kristi, manager of Used A Bit, said the customers are very diverse, ranging anywhere from “money conscious people who want to be green, to people in need”.
The economic downturn was initially tough on her business she said. However, things have definitely turned around. Prior to the economic downturn, people were mostly interested in collectibles, Kristi said. Now, however, everyday items are becoming more popular.
Sheets, Kristi said, are surprisingly becoming a quick seller. And people are now choosing to buy dishware and other everyday items that one used to buy at Target or Walmart. Any items that cannot be sold are donated to Goodwill and churches.
Used a Bit is open Monday through Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm (until 7 pm on Thursday), and is located in the Riverpark Mall.
