WANDA HAMBLIN

Wanda “Sis” Hamblin, age 98 of Northfield, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2009 at the Long Term Care Center of the Northfield Hospital. Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Thursday, June 25th at the Bierman Funeral Home of Northfield with burial at the Northfield Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:00 am until the time of Services.

Claribelle Wanda Hamblin was born January 27, 1911 in Northfield, daughter of Albert and Mae (Wells) Weed. She was raised in Northfield along with her brothers and sisters and attended Northfield Schools. In 1928 she was united in marriage to Lloyd Raymond Hamblin and they made their home in Minneapolis. In 1948 they moved to the San Gabriel Valley area in California where Lloyd began working.

Following Lloyd’s death in 1960, Wanda began working as a cook in the West Covina, CA school district and later as cook at a local nursing home. In addition she was secretary for Central Plating, a chrome plating business owned by her sons Gerald and Pepper. Following retirement she remained in California until 1994 when she moved to Northfield. Wanda liked sewing, crafts, cooking and baking. She enjoyed garage sales, the Northfield Senior Center, and collecting ceramic bear figurines.

Wanda Hamblin is survived by daughters Donna Swanson of Maple Grove and Ginger Hamblin of Northfield; sister Maydelle (Chester) Rose of Eureka Center; 12 grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lloyd; sons Gerald and Pepper; sisters Gladys Weed, Joan Carlson, Dorothy Detlie; brothers Richard, Albert, Lloyd, Charles, and Willis Weed.
