IRENE DENISON

Irene Denison, age 89 of Northfield, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at the Long Term Care Center of the Northfield Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 19, 2009 at 1:00pm at the Bierman Funeral Home in Northfield with burial at the Prairie Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 19th from 11:00 am until the hour of services.

Irene Mathilda Denison, the daughter of Frank and Alma (Drentlaw) Brinton was born on March 11, 1920 on the family farm south of Northfield where she still lived. Her mother passed away when Irene was 12 years old and she was raised by her father and grandfather on their farm. On February 4, 1964 she was united in marriage to Donald Ira Denison and they made their home on the Brinton farm. They farmed until the late 1960’s when Irene began working at Sheldahls in the circuitry division.

In 1972 she and Don began the Denison Pet Farm specializing in pet care for owners going out of town and on vacation. Through the years she primarily boarded dogs and cats but also took in birds, guinea pigs, lizards, and other pets that needed care when the owners were away.

Irene enjoyed sewing and needle work and had made numerous quilts through the years and some special crocheting items. She always had large flower gardens to tend to and a vegetable garden way too big for her and Don so they always had produce to share with others.

Irene is survived by her adoptive family; Greg and Sheryl Studsdahl of Northfield, Barbie (Jeff) Strese of Elko and Jerald Studsdahl of Dundas; step-daughter, Evelyn (Earl) Drentlaw of Northfield; many other relatives; and close friends Nancy, Emery, Sue, and Frank. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Donald.

Funeral arrangements are by the Bierman Funeral Home of Northfield.
