Dona Hanna
Dona Mae Myers Hanna was born June 2, 1932, in Frost, Minnesota, to Clarence W. and Mabel J. (Gunderson) Myers. She was raised on a farm near Blue Earth, attended country school, graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1949, and attended Mankato State College. She married Robert Bruce Hanna on April 28, 1951, in Blue Earth. After marriage they lived in Mankato and Tracy, before moving to St. Paul in 1955. After St. Paul they lived in Cleveland, Ohio, Mobile, Alabama, and St. Louis, Missouri. Most of those years Dona was at home with the children, although in St. Louis she did work part time as a Polaroid Girl. In 1969 they moved to Northfield where they bought the Coast to Coast Hardware Store. In 1976 they bought the Coast to Coast in Farmington. Dona and Bruce operated both stores until 1978 when they sold the Northfield store. In 1981 they sold the Farmington store. After selling the store Dona worked in Northfield at the Dahl House and as a real estate agent until retiring in 1987. In 1993, Dona and Bruce began spending winters at their home in Lake Havasu, Arizona. Bruce passed away on October 3, 2001.
Dona was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed singing, shopping, golf, traveling, reading, and her family. She was classy, kind, generous, a good friend, and always had a smile. She was a good mother and grandmother, and she will be greatly missed.
Dona is survived by 4 children and their spouses: Scott & Margie of Dundas, Debbie and Jim Bird of Bloomington, David and Claudia of Manhattan, New York, Mary Jane Edlefson of Bloomington; 6 grandchildren: Steven, Jeffrey, Michael, Jonathan, Whitney and Aaron; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband and her sister Carol Kesselring.
Donna passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 11, 2008, in Flagstaff, Arizona, at the age of 75.
Services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, May 17, 2008, at the Benson & Langehough Funeral Home in Northfield with Rev. Duane Everson officiating. Music will be provided by Jim Bird. A luncheon to follow. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Memorials are preferred to the Diabetes Association or Taylor House in Flagstaff.
