Mary P. Hanson

hanson, mary obit Mary P. Hanson was born July 22, 1934, in Lonsdale, Minnesota, to Joseph and Phoebe (Dvorak) Hruza. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church and attended Rosary School. She graduated from Northfield High School in 1953 and worked at Kump Lumber Company. She married Roger Hanson on December 27, 1956, at St. Dominic. After marriage they lived at Ft. Bragg while Roger was in the service. In 1958 they moved to Long Prairie and in 1964 to Rosemount. Mary worked over 30 years for Grief Brother’s Manufacturing until retiring in 1996. After retirement she spent much of her time helping to care for her mother. Mary and Roger have lived in Northfield since 2005.

Mary was a member of the Church of St. Dominic. She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles and when she was younger, bowling. She was kind, caring, generous and always the first to help. She dearly loved her family and her greatest enjoyment was her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Roger; 3 children: Mary and husband Scott Lundquist of Burnsville, Dave and wife Pattie of Prior Lake, Ron and wife Liz of Webster; 6 grandchildren: Hayley, William, Mike (Vanessa), Christine, Rebecca and Anna; 2 great-grandchildren: Bruce and Peyton; 5 brothers: John of Waverly, Iowa, George and wife Marlene of St. Paul, Joseph of Northfield, Tom of Melrose, Wisconsin, Bob and wife Sharon of Northfield; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Frank, and her sisters Betty Marko and Philomena Hruza.

Mary passed away with her husband and family by her side, on Wednesday evening, April 16, 2008, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, at the age of 73.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, April 21, 2008, at the Church of St. Dominic in Northfield with Fr. Dennis Dempsey officiating. Music will be provided by Marlys Mouser. Casket bearers will be Scott Lundquist, William Lundquist, Dave Hanson, Ron Hanson, George Hruza and Larry Marko. Visitation will be 3-6 P.M. Sunday, April 20, 2008, at the Benson & Langehough Funeral Home in Northfield. Visitation will continue at the church on Monday one hour prior to the funeral.
