Ronald Mjelde Obituary

Ronald Mjelde, age 72 of Northfield, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2007 at the Northfield Hospital after a courageous battle with colon cancer. Funeral Services will be 1:00pm Monday, March 24th at Abundant Life Assembly of God Church in Northfield with visitation 1 hour prior to Services at the Church. Interment will be at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Northfield.

Ronald Vernon Mjelde was born May 25, 1935 in Thief River Falls, MN, one of six children born to Harry and Elizabeth (Johnsrud) Mjelde. Following school he joined the U.S. Army and served in Korea. After his discharge he worked for the State of California as a surveyor building highways. He later worked for the U.S. Forest Service in Montana in the Engineering Department as a road and bridge inspector. Following retirement he moved to Northfield to be near his family.

Ron Mjelde is survived by brothers Ramon (Rosemary) Mjelde of Northfield, Thomas (Katherine) Mjelde of Dennison; sister Sharon Ellsworth of Dundas; sisters-in-law Nancy Mjelde of Texas, Nancy Mjelde of Idaho; brother-in-law Larry Ellsworth of Northfield; nieces and nephews Jennifer (Todd) Fritz, Larry (Laura) Ellsworth, Kim (Ken) Young, Rebecca (Jon) Mjelde, John (Kim) Barnes; great nieces and nephews Brittani, Brandon, Brian, and Jagger of Montana, Samantha and Felicity Ellsworth, and Kendall Young of Minnesota; and many cousins and aunts. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Elizabeth “Alice” Mjelde; brother Dale; infant sister; and special friend Helen Carpenter.
