This Week in the Northfield Blogosphere: Squidders on the Paddywagon

Warning sign in Ireland Faith and begorrah, it'd be near a fortnight since I was last kicked to be a cocked hat about this Internet thing.  I'm right gobsmacked with the number of specky four-eyes writing who-knows-what since they're a bunch of billy no mates, the lot of 'em.   Cor blimey, I'd best be writing this up, lest I'm too knackered to sneak out for a pint after the missus turns in.  Also: starkers, Guinness, shrimp on the barbie.

Chris Tassava has an entry on the non-motorized task force getting a grant for safe walkways to school...

Though it has been a draining week in every respect except the one related to my sinuses, I was elated to learn today that the Northfield Public Schools have been awarded a $30,000 grant to plan for safer walking and biking routes to our various schools.

Carey Tinkelenburg of the Northfield Skating School has a short entry (plus pictures) of the 'Bring a Friend Skating Day" that the school ran...

Over 70 friends, moms, dads, uncles, aunts, neighbors, brothers, and sisters joined us for the event - our biggest one yet! In addition to regular classes and practice time, the event wrapped up with a set of group games and a display of skills by Northfield Skating School coaches and the director.

Ross Currier of the NDDC blogged his reply to Jaci Smith of the Northfield News over the development and future of the downtown as it relates to the speed of how Northfield is currently handling it...

I cite this following story because I think it illustrates why implementation of ideas seems to move so slowly. For many months in early 2003, an ad hoc task force of the NDDC, the so-called “Action Squad”, walked the downtown, reviewed its strengths and weaknesses, conducted some analysis, did considerable research, and then presented their recommendations at a Council Work Session in July of 2003.

Mary Scheier of My Northern Garden and Northern Gardener magazine will be sponsoring one of the holes during this weekend's Mini Golf at the Library...

The Library Teen Advisory Board is doing some additional fund-raising for the teen area, and the teen board has come up with a great idea for a mucky March weekend: Mini-golf at the Library! The event will be held Friday evening, with scramble starts at 6 and 8 p.m. Sign your foursome up at the library or see the Teen Board blog for more information.

Tim Freeland has a story (and great picture in the Faribault paper) of him doing his magic act during the HealthFinders annual gala last weekend...

What a great event.  It was well attended and very classy.  I was able to walk around the crowd and entertain individual tables while they had dinner.   I was able to turn the "oh crap a magician" look into a "I can't believe what I just saw" look.  That's why I do what I do.

And last, but not least, Brendon Etter has a hilarious...  What's that?  Out of time?  Guess I'll get to it next week then...

(Many thanks to 'destro100' for use of his CC-licensed Irish warning sign.)
