Politics and a Pint (3 Feb 2008) - Pick your poison (candidate)

Feb 3 2008 6:00 pm
Feb 3 2008 8:00 pm

With the party caucuses coming this Tuesday (5th Feb), we ought to firm up our thoughts on the question of whom to support at those caucuses. Politics and a Pint at the Contented Cow will be visiting the MPR Select a Candidate website, answering the questions from the viewpoint of the Republicans and the Democrats (played by volunteers in the audience, with the vocal support of their supporting caucuses). We may even play a neutral party picking the single best consensus answer (how willing to work together is Northfield?).

Homework: go to the web site and run through the questions on your own so you can put together your arguments to sway the virtual caucuses on Sunday night.

What: Politics and a Pint
Where:
Contented Cow
When: Every Sunday, 6-8PM, Next topic: party caucuses and politician positions
What: Gently moderated political talk with no acrimony and free munchies.

Raucus caucus

Well, a strong contingent of true nerds showed up to wrangle their way through the MPR website in an effort to "Pick a Candidate". We heard rumors that some big bread-and-circuses event was being televised, but with the party caucuses less than two days away we were driven by a greater need. This was the loudest event yet, as various opinions were expressed, all politely, but still, some very loudly. At the end of the day, there were no real surprizes, with Obama winning the support of the "Democratis" and McCain winning the support of the "Republicans". Next week we may tackle something less contentious. Not!
