Potter Party photos

wizards Hundreds of Hermiones and plenty of Potters filled the streets of downtown Northfield last night as Division Street was transformed into Diagon Alley.

I shot a couple dozen photos of the scene, including the "six legged quidditch races" and the costume contest. You can view them all in our Potter Party 2007 photo gallery, and you can add your own shots to it by sending them to us at pictures@northfield.org.

Of course Griff Wigley already has his Pottermania 2007 gallery online; if you've got one too, just add a comment and point us to it.

Update: the RCBlog has more photos—and a great account of the evening—at rivercitybooks.wordpress.com. And ArtOrg has their own Flickr gallery up of their event with Potter illustrator Mary GrandPre.

Thanks for the link, Doug.

Thanks for the link, Doug. I've done likewise.

But where's that really tall handsome Snape guy?

Man! This was a great, great, GREAT event!

Regardless of your opinions of Harry Potter - the books, the movies or the phenomenon - it was truly wonderful to see so many people out and enjoying themselves.

I believe we should definitely look into funding a similar event (a late night family movie in the street, especially) every summer.

Thanks to all who participated and put so much effort into throwing a magnificent community party.

Apologies to Professor Snape

Perhaps the professor had some sort of spell preventing the attending photographers from capturing his likeness, but my shots of Snape weren't fit for publication. (Though the River City folks seem to have fared slightly better with this shot.)

Echoing Brendon's comments, this event really had some magic to it. What a fabulous night of community reveling! Since the Potter books are done, let's find another excuse to do this next summer!

handsome Snape Guy

Hi, Brendon. Handsome Snape is with Griff's pictures. I loaned him the one I took and will get a regular copy of the photo to Ann this week for you!

Great Photos, Doug

Many thanks, Doug, for your mention of my scribblings and photos.

I have revised my post; it now includes a link to your terrific coverage. I also added an imbedded slideshow — forgive me, I'm not the technical wizard you are! — for easier access.

It was simply a terrific night. Thanks to all who made it so.
