The temperatures might be dropping outside, but the Northfield Area Family YMCA is providing a fun way to keep your elementary school-aged children active this fall and winter.

The Y’s School Age Open Gym program begins Monday, Nov. 5, at the Northfield National Guard Armory, 519 Division St.

Children ages 5-11 and their parents can play their sillies out with basketballs, soccer balls, scooters and much more.  This is a parent-child program, which means adults accompany their youngsters to the open gym.

The armory will be open every Monday in November, except for Nov. 19, from 3:15 to 5 p.m.  The open gym program will expand to two days per week—Monday and Thursday—in December.

The program is free for YMCA members and $5 per child per visit for community members.

More information about this program and all of the Y’s fall offerings can be found at www.northfieldymca.org or in the Y’s fall program brochure, which can be found at:
• The Y’s office, on Highway 3, just south of the Quarterback Club.
• The armory.
• The Y’s Health and Wellness Fitness Center, 900 Cannon Valley Drive, on the campus of the Northfield Retirement Center.

Preregistration is not required. But if you want to register, visit www.northfieldymca.org and click the “Registration” button, stop by the Y’s office or call the Y at 507-645-0088.

The Northfield YMCA welcomes all who wish to participate in its programs, meaning no one is turned away because of inability to pay.
