ArtOrg was out of this world tonight ...

ArtOrg outdid itself tonight with its showing of art by John Berkey (right). The Artist was present, and was gracious and low key as I and others viewed and praised his works.
Of course, I knew him best for his many science-fiction pieces, including the covers of some of my favorite old science-fiction paperbacks (e.g., "The Caves of Steel" by I. Asimov). Here, some of his family view a collection of paperback covers using his art.
I was honored by the chance to tell him how much I like his art, here I was discussing a piece that showed a man deep in thought, this painting had impacted me on many levels.

The show was attended by Bob Anderson (Northfield), Malcolm (Skip) Liepke, and Paul Oxborough, all well known for their works.
This painting was particularly haunting, as it brought back the memories of that fated flight.
ArtOrg's Executive Director, Dave Machacek, really put together a nice show -- here he was looking at one of the pieces that shows the range of the artist.
Wow, here I am at the
Northfield Historical Society Annual Auction (Club Ed) with the signed poster announcing this show that my wife, Pam, bought for me. I have been telling everyone how the show had affected me, getting this poster was really sweet. Thanks, Pammie!

I had the chance to meet Mr. Berkey a few years ago while I was studying commercial art in Mankato. He's an amazing artist and I recommend everyone head down there to check out his one of a kind artwork!
