The Northfield Arts Guild presents: Su Smallen

House of Healing: New and Selected Poems

Co-sponsored by the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council (SEMAC)

Su will read from her poetry book-in-progress to celebrate her grant from SEMAC. Several summer poems will be included to brighten this winter evening.

Su Smallen's book Weight of Light was nominated for the Pushcart Press Editor's Book Award. Her many honors and awards include the Jane Kenyon Poetry Prize and a Joy Harjo Poetry Prize. Her poems and essays have appeared in several journals and anthologies, recently in Midway Journal, Water-Stone Review, and The Quiet Eye: Thirteen Ways of Looking at Nature. A Lonsdale resident, Su is a member of the Laurel Poetry Collective and she directs the writing center at St. Olaf College. She teaches creative writing in Hamline University's MFA and Master of Liberal Studies programs and with The Wild Institute.
