Standing on the Side of Love -- Rainbow Dinner and Forum (part I)
The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Church is hosting a two-day event on faith and sexuality Feb. 13-14: “Standing on the Side of Love -- Rainbow Dinner and Forum.”
The Saturday night pasta dinner starting at 5:30 will feature theologian David Weiss, author of To The Tune of a Welcoming God, a collection of essays calling for a Christian faith that extends an affirming welcome to gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered persons. Weiss will speak at 7 p.m. The menu will include meat or a vegetarian pasta entree, salad, bread, and dessert. Tickets can be purchased at the door: $10 for adults, $4 for children under 12 (children under 5 free).
The Sunday morning service at 10 a.m. will feature Kathleen Hollinger, state GLBT advocate, with an update and discussion of equal rights legislation around the country. The community is invited to attend and get involved.
The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Church is located on the corner of West Second and Linden streets. Funds raised from the dinner will be used to help organizations that educate, and support equal rights for all persons regardless of sexual orientation.
