Parents Meeting Parents Hosts a Community Screening of the Documentary Including Samuel
Parents Meeting Parents, is a support and information sharing group for parents who have children with special needs. "Needs" range from a child having special education needs, a mental health diagnosis, developmental delays to those with physical impairments. Parents Meeting Parents is a program of the Northfield Area YMCA, run by two parents who volunteer their time. St. John's has been a valuable partner in providing us with appropriate meeting space. The January 28th event is supported in part by the Northfield Healty Community Initiative, with funding from the Northfield Area United Way and SAMHSA (grant number SP12242-06).
Parents Meeting Parents is excited to share Including Samuel with the community. "Photojournalist Dan Habib rarely thought about the inclusion of children with disabilities before he had his son Samuel eight years ago. Now he thinks about inclusion every day. Habib documented his family's efforts to include Samuel in every facet of their lives, a journey that transforms each of them. Including Samuel is a highly personal, passionately photographed film that caputres the cultural and systemic barriers to inclusion," www.includingsamuel.com.
