Get your tickets now for downtown Northfield’s 7th Annual Girls Nite Out, coming up Friday, May 10. This very popular event brings hundreds of women to downtown Northfield for an evening of shopping and pampering, dining and socializing, dancing and fun. Proceeds for the event also go to support local charities. Tickets to Girls Nite Out are $10 and advance tickets can be purchased at KYMN Radio, at participating retailers, and online at www.thegrandnorthfield.com.
In addition to treats and in-store specials from 5 to 9 p.m. at participating restaurants and retailers, Girls Nite Out ticket-holders get VIP admittance to a not-to-be-missed party from 9 p.m. to midnight (doors open at 8:30 p.m.) at The Grand Event Center, where they can enjoy hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, delicious desserts from CakeWalk, and dancing to the sounds of the Rebel Queens.
Those attending the Girls Nite Out VIP party will also have their name entered in a drawing to win a $1,000 downtown shopping spree, along with a variety of other fabulous prizes. (Must be present to win; drawing will be held at 9:30 p.m.)
Inspired by The Runaways, the Rebel Queens are a high-energy all-female band performing all the classic punk and rock favorites from the 70s, 80s and 90s. “I am so excited that the Rebel Queens will be appearing at this year’s Girls Nite Out,” says Jessica Paxton, KYMN Radio DJ and music columnist for Southern Minn ‘Scene’ magazine. “They are going to bring on the GIRL POWER. Think Joan Jett, The Ramones, Bowie, Blondie, Kiss, ACDC, Cheap Trick—all the guilty pleasures. Ladies, get ready to ROCK!” Find the band online at www.rebelqueens.com.
As in previous years, proceeds from the event will be donated to area charitable organizations. This year, a portion of the Girls Nite Out proceeds will again be donated to Ruth's House of Hope in Faribault, which serves women and children throughout Rice County. For more information, visit their website at www.ruthshousemn.org.
Wristbands (required for in-store treats and specials, as well as admittance to the VIP party at the Grand) will be distributed beginning at 4:30 p.m. at a Girls Nite Out registration table set up by the Northfield Public Library on the corner of Third and Division Streets. In previous years, registration has been held on Bridge Square; please note this location is being changed.
For more information, contact Girls Nite Out committee chair Diane Sinclair at (507) 645-2376. Tickets can be purchase at KYMN Radio, located at 200 Division Street, at participating downtown Northfield businesses, or online at www.thegrandnorthfield.com. The Grand Event Center is located at 316 Washington Street in Northfield.
