Mark your calendars now for Northfield’s 8th Annual Girls Nite Out, coming up Friday, May 9. This very popular event brings hundreds of women to downtown Northfield for an evening of shopping and pampering, dining and socializing, dancing and fun.
The format will be a bit different this year – there’s no need to buy an advance ticket or wristband, meaning that exclusive specials at stores and restaurants will be offered to everyone in attendance. And rather than the evening culminating with a big party and giveaways at The Grand Event Center, each downtown bar and pub will be presenting special entertainment and drink specials, and each retailer will offer their own individual discounts and prizes.
“Participating downtown retailers, restaurants and bars will offer a variety of in-house ‘exclusives’ for Girls Nite Out attendees,” explains Suzy Taggart, owner of Tagg 2. “These offerings range from in-store discounts to special treats and prizes. Retailers will also offer extended hours and be open until 9 p.m. And the bars and restaurants will each host their own ‘party’ planned.”
“Girls Nite Out was originally designed to get ladies to come downtown and shop locally. We’re excited to support local merchants and restaurant owners, and also provide women with a fun night ‘out on the town’ with their gal pals,” says Jessica Paxton of KYMN Radio.
“And as a music lover, I’m really excited by the variety of entertainment that will be offered at each of the popular downtown pubs and bars. Rather than a big party at The Grand, this year each venue will offer something special, whether you’re a fan of live music or dancing or just want to let loose with some karaoke. There will even be some Flamenco guitar!”
In addition to being a fun opportunity for women to support local businesses, this is also a nice way for businesses to give back to their customers. “It’s always great to see so many new and familiar faces at Girls Nite Out,” says Krin Finger, owner of The Rare Pair. “We look forward each year to offering in-store treats and giveaways; it’s our way of saying ‘Thank you’ for supporting us all year long.”
