Enjoy the full moon and the full blossom of the prairie on this evening tour. We will view the prairie in its late summer splendor – stiff gentian, showy goldenrod, joe-pye weed, blazing star, evening primrose, and prairie onion are just a few of the plants we expect will be in flower. The tallest of the prairie grasses will have bolted skyward, and you will have the opportunity to view the waves of grasses that the prairie schooners of the early settlers moved through. This walk is timed to allow us to enjoy the moon rising over the prairie, and we expect to be finishing our outing as darkness settles across the landscape. Feel free to bring a flashlight if you have concerns about your footing. Mosquitoes are unpredictable, so insect spray or protective clothing may be in order. Contact Nancy Braker with questions – firstname.lastname@example.org or 507-222-4543. Tour leaves from the Arboreutm office on the Carleton Campus.
