Minnesota Music Award Winner Dan Israel to Perform at the Tavern Lounge
Dan Israel, acclaimed singer/songwriter and Minnesota Music Association award winner, will perform Friday, June 1, from 8 to 11:30 p.m. at the Tavern Lounge in Northfield.
Israel comes to Northfield in support of his 11th full-length studio album, “Crosstown Traveler.” Released in 2011, Israel describes “Crosstown Traveler” as “chock full of roots-pop goodness.” The album has received glowing reviews all around the globe and has been featured on Minnesota Public Radio’s 89.3 “The Current.”
“It’s really exciting to have an artist of Dan’s caliber come to Northfield,” says Jessica Paxton of KYMN Radio. “I’m a big fan of Dan and his music and to be able to see him in an intimate setting like the Tavern Lounge is an extra special treat.”
A constant on the Twin Cities roots music scene for over a decade, performing solo and with his band The Cultivators, Israel has shared the stage with the likes of Ramblin' Jack Elliot, Morrissey, Todd Snider, Fastball, Iris Dement, The Tragically Hip, The Honeydogs, Peter Himmelman, Mason Jennings, Ike Reilly, Eastmountainsouth, Soul Asylum, Molly Maher, Amy Rigby, Martin Zellar, Loudon Wainwright III, Dwight Twilley, Romantica, and Spoon. Paxton adds, “Northfield is really generating a lot of buzz as a go-to destination for great live music. Like the Cow and the Rueb, the Tavern too is bringing to town some really fantastic musicians.” During the month of June alone, the Tavern Lounge will also feature national recording artists Jonathan Rundman (June 21), Julia Douglass & Mother Banjo (June 29), and The Minor Planets (June 30).
