The Carleton College Symphony Band will set the mood for the Halloween holiday with a special performance on Friday, Oct. 29 at 8 p.m. in the Concert Hall. Directed by Ronald Rodman, the concert will feature some classically “spooky” compositions including Suite from “The Bride of Frankenstein” (Franz Waxman), “Ride of the Valkyries” (Richard Wagner), and selections from “The Divine Comedy” (Robert W. Smith). Entitled “Music of the Uncanny,” this performance is free and open to the public.

Symphony Band director Ronald Rodman earned his Ph.D. in Music Theory from Indiana University, and now does research in a variety of musical fields including music in electronic media, music theory pedagogy, and wind band music history. His new book, Tuning In: American Narrative Television Music (Oxford University Press, 2009), is available from the Carleton Bookstore or online at www.CarletonBookstore.com.

The Carleton College Concert Hall is located at First Street between Nevada and Winona Streets in Northfield. For more information, including disability accommodations, contact the music department at (507) 222-4475.
