Location:Carleton College Concert Hall
The Carleton College Choir, under the direction of faculty conductor Lawrence Burnett and student conductor Julian Pozniak, will present a program of choral favorites on the theme ‘earth and heaven.’ Entitled “Something Like A Star,” the evening will include a performance of Gloria by Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi. The concert, held Friday, May 23 at 8 p.m. in the Concert Hall, is free and open to the public.
The Carleton Choir is the cornerstone of the choral ensembles program at Carleton. The chorus is subdivided into women’s voices, Bella Cantemus, and men’s voices, Men’s Chorus. Each term, the ensemble presents a concert of short and extended works from the large bodies of classical, ethnic and cultural repertories on and off the college campus.
Burnett, the director of choral music at Carleton, has performed extensively all across the United States and has teaching experience that spans more than thirty years in public schools and colleges. He has also served as guest conductor, clinician and adjudicator for numerous choral festivals, honor choirs, choral and solo competitions, and workshops in the United States and Canada.
Pozniak is a senior music major at Carleton, who hails from Waunakee, Wisc. His direction of the Choir’s performance of Gloria culminates his years of musical leadership in the choral ensembles at Carleton.
