On Tuesday, March 2, at 11AM, Rice County Attorney Paul Beaumaster and Crime Victim Services Coordinator Vanessa Eng are coming to SEMCAC Senior Dining at the Northfield Senior Center to talk about abuse and fraud of the elderly. We sometimes hear about senior citizens being the target of fraud in telephone or investment scams and of abuse by professional or related caregivers. How can senior citizens protect themselves from such schemes without becoming paranoid? How can family and friends help? What signs are we to watch for to alert us to possible abuse or fraud? Paul Beaumaster and Vanessa Eng will be able to answer these and other questions, and they will also eat with diners and be available for informal conversation. Dinner is by reservation only and will follow the talk at 11:30AM: Chicken Breast with Sauce, Wild Rice Pilaf, Seasoned Broccoli, a Waldorf Salad, and Pudding. The suggested donation for those over sixty is $3.-, and those under sixty pay cost at $5.50. For reservation, call 664-3735 by noon Monday, March 1.
