Acclaimed Author, Nutrition Counselor, and Chef to Speak at Carleton College about the Importance of Healthy Living

Just in time to boost your New Year’s resolutions, Alexandra Jamieson, acclaimed nutritionist and author of “The Great American Detox Diet” (Rodale Books, 2005), will deliver the weekly convocation at Carleton College on Friday, January 29 at 10:50 a.m. in the Skinner Memorial Chapel. A certified health counselor and gourmet vegan chef, Jamieson uses both nutritional wisdom and food savvy to preach the transformative power of eating healthy. As a voice for holistic nutrition and healthy detoxification, Jamieson has appeared in the award-winning documentary film Super Size Me as well as on television’s Oprah, to empower individuals to use healthy food as a catalyst for success. Following the convocation, there will be a book signing with Jamieson’s books available for purchase. The Carleton College Bookstore will also feature Jamieson’s titles at a 15% discount a week prior to the event. This presentation is free and open to the public.

 

Jamieson works as a certified health and nutrition counselor, having studied at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, accredited by Columbia University’s Teacher’s College and by the American Association of Drugless Practicioners. She is also a professionally-trained gourmet chef in Milan, Italy, and at a variety of New York restaurants. Jamieson honed her culinary prowess at the New York City’s Natural Gourmet Institute for Health and Culinary Arts. “The Great American Detox Diet” features 100 delicious and simple recipes individuals can use as substitutes to improve their eating habits, and sheds light on the benefits of choosing fresh, healthful foods over processed fast food options. yes">
