Calling all quilters and those who admire quilts!

Jean Wakely, will talk about the Jewell Wolk Story Quilt Project, which is dedicated to the memory of her mother, Betty Jewell Wolk, on Saturday, March 10:00 a.m., in the Northfield Public Library meeting room

Over the course of twenty-five years, Jewell completed nine quilts and began a final, tenth quilt. Each quilt tells a unique story about some aspect of women's lives and work.
Jewell was an extraordinary artist and creative storyteller. Founder of the famous Montana Storytelling Project, she knew how to tell a story. The project seeks to show how each quilt came into being and the stories that are associated with each scene or vignette pictured on the quilt.

At the brink of adulthood, our perception of morality is challenged. Suddenly, we must face family, gender, power roles, and war - hidden from us in youth. This is the dilemma that young Antigone is faced with in Jean Anouilh's adaptation of Antigone. With contemporary vernacular to update the classic Greek story, we are asked to take sides for and against Antigone; who must decide if it is better to live a lie, or die for the truth.

Resilient Book Club

We meet monthly at the Northfield Public Library to read and discuss books focused on sustainability, permaculture and gardening, possible futures for a society that refuses to wean itself from an addiction to cheap energy. Our thinking goes like this: we have created a culture wholly dependent upon non-renewable energy sources that, by definition, will end at some point. So let’s educate ourselves and build support for those ideas that can usher in a new way of doing our lives.

Second Mondays of the month

Public Library meeting room, 6-7:45 pm

Monday April 8: World Made By Hand, James Howard Kuntsler

A realistic depiction of life in a small town after the federal government vanishes, there are no more imports of stuff from China, and the townspeople need to resolve differences to carry on.
