Carleton College will highlight Pittsburgh-based, multi-media artist John Peña's "Daily Geology" in an exhibit in the Kaemmer Family Gallery of Perlman Teaching Museum, located in the Weitz Center for Creativity. Peña's two-year autobiographical project "Daily Geology" depicts one drawing a day to highlight a memorable if unremarkable moment or experience. Aiming to dramatize links between humans and nature, Peña defines his life as a slow accretion of experience; he offers small pencil drawings full of family dynamics, random encounters, personal hungers, and longings, to gradually tell the big story of a life.

Peña will appear at Carleton on Thursday, January 17 at 4:30 p.m. in the Weitz Center Cinema, presenting a lecture entitled, "Silly Doodles Filled with Sorrow and Joy," followed by a 5:30 p.m. reception at the Perlman Teaching Museum.
