Intrigued with how one’s perception of an object or surface changes when it is photographed at a close range, Laura literally and figuratively focuses on “the seemingly unremarkable, sometimes ugly leavings of everyday life: rust and grime, deposits and spills, mildew and decay,” to reveal “the art in accident and the ubiquity of beauty.” Laura prints her images on canvas to create a painterly effect.

The Northfield Arts Guild Theater is hosting auditions for two one-act plays, Yiddish Cowboys and Cabin 12. An exciting world premiere, Larry Greenstein’s Yiddish Cowboys takes place in Poland in 1939, where townspeople of Villeker are exited to have a real Hollywood western filmed in their village. Cabin 12, written by John Bishop, is a powerful story of a father and son who must find a way to communicate in their time of grief and transform their pain into love.
Please call the Arts Guild to schedule a short individual audition time. Yiddish Cowboys, directed by Susan Carlson, is looking for three women ages 20s-50s, one boy age 10-13 and one girl age 6-9. Cabin 12, directed by Fred Stanley, will be casting three men, ages 20s-60s and one woman age 20-30.
Weekend performances are scheduled for February 8-17, 2013. Check the Arts Guild website for more information: www.northfieldartsguild.org
