The teams will play the game as it was played in the mid-19th century, using 1860 rules. They include no gloves, no called balls and strikes, no bunting, sliding or leading off. You Knew Me When, a Nashville, Tennessee-based duo comprised of musicians Cie Hoover and Karisa Doughty Hoover, will perform Saturday, September 1 at the Tavern Lounge (in the historic Archer House River Inn) in downtown Northfield. Currently in the midst of a whirlwind year-long tour that takes them all around the nation, You Knew Me When will perform from 8 to 11:30 p.m. (with no cover charge).
The two present a fusion of progressive indie rock and folky keyboard-driven compositions fused with pulsing and stirred beats. The result is a musical style that blends a singer-songwriter soul with a pop/rock mentality. Think The Civil Wars meets The Swell Season meets Coldplay, along with influences by Norah Jones and Ingrid Michaelson.

Northfield Arts Guild Member Karl Nelson shows a series of detailed intaglio prints at Allina Clinic. Painstakingly made, each abstract image is built up by a series of small dots using a technique called stippling, “which means making one dot at a time with a sharp needle.”
“I try to push the images in two different directions at once…so that they float on the edge of making sense,” Karl remarks. Karl is an alumnus of St. Olaf College and received his MFA from University of Wisconsin-Madison.
