Exhibition Dates: Wednesday, May 30 – June 16, 2012
The opening reception will take place on Friday, June 1 from 7-9pm, with an 8pm performance by Catty Wampus, the high school’s female choral group. The Northfield Arts Guild Gallery hours are Monday through Friday 10am – 5pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 11am – 3pm. Arts Guild Member Randy Mitchell exhibits his wood carvings. A Northfield native, Randy recalls childhood winters filled with sledding days and quiet snowscapes. “My show is to bring back the good old times of a warm heart and the view of a fresh start that comes from a winter scene in one’s own mind.” This gallery is located near the lab waiting area at Allina Medical Clinic of Northfield at 1440 Jefferson Road. Regular Clinic Hours are 7 am to 8 pm Monday through Thursday, 7 am to 7 pm Fridays, and 9 am to 3 pm Saturdays. Start: Jun 9 2012 9:30 am
Carleton College will award the Bachelor of Arts degree to 486 graduating seniors at the 138th annual commencement ceremony on Saturday, June 9, at 9:30 a.m. on the Bald Spot, the lawn west of Hulings Hall on the Carleton campus. A celebratory picnic on the Bald Spot will follow. In the event of severe weather, commencement will be held indoors at the Recreation Center. Seating is available to accommodate all guests, whether outdoors or indoors, and no tickets are required.
Commencement is always a special time of celebration at Carleton. In addition to remarks by College President Steven Poskanzer, this year’s ceremony will include brief speeches by two graduating seniors—selected to speak by a panel of their peers—along with an address from this year’s recipient of an honorary degree.
Have you always wanted to learn a simple method that can help you relieve stress, give you more self confidence, and help you concentrate on your schoolwork? Then please join in on June 9 for a day of meditation, recreational activities, and lunch at St. Olaf College! This is the third year this course has been offered here in Northfield. Some of the children have remarked: "I never knew I could feel so calm" and "It was a really cool experience". This is a nonsectarian class. Children from all backgrounds are welcome.
