This gallery is located near the lab waiting area at Allina Medical Clinic of Northfield at 1440 Jefferson Road. Carleton and St. Olaf post-graduate studio artists present digital compositions from mixed media scans, graphite drawings, mixed media works on wood, digital photos, ceramic sculptures, and intaglio prints. Opening Reception: Friday, May 4, 7-9pm YMCA Frisbee Golf (grades 2-5th) Frisbee or Disc Golf is a game in which players throw a flying disc into a basket or at a target. The object of the game is to complete the course with the fewest number of throws. No experience necessary. We’ll provide the instruction and equipment and enjoy spring! The Carleton College Orchestra will celebrate the conclusion of the academic year with a performance in the Concert Hall on Friday, May 25 at 8 p.m. Designed to showcase the many musical talents of the graduating class of 2012, this concert is free and open to the public.
Three seniors will perform solos during the concert. Molly Nichols (Machiasport, Me.) will be featured in a Harp Concerto (1884) by German composer Carl Reinecke. Robert Wakeley (Kenmore, Wash.) is the star of a flute adaptation of “Fantasia para un gentilhombre” (Fantasia for a Gentleman) (1954), a work by Spanish composer Joaquin Rodrigo. Finally, Katie Deeg (Zionsville, Ind.) will be the center of attention in a rendition of Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto (1878).
