The Carleton College Perlman Teaching Museum will formally open its new spring term exhibit, “Our Treasures: Highlights from the Minnesota Museum of American Art,” on Saturday, March 31 at 2 p.m. with a three-hour reception and community open house that includes a presentation by the exhibit curator along with family-friendly arts activities. “Our Treasures,” on display in the Braucher Gallery of the Perlman Teaching Museum, is comprised of a rich collection of paintings, sculpture, drawings, photography and craft objects, showcases American art in a variety of styles and runs from March 30 until May 8, 2012. Located in the College’s Weitz Center for Creativity, admission to the Perlman Teaching Museum is free and all related events are open to the public.
Carleton College will present “Photographing the Social Body: Malian Portraiture from the Studio to the Street” in the Kaemmer Family Gallery of the Perlman Teaching Museum, located in the Weitz Center for Creativity. The exhibit, which showcases the vibrant photographic culture of the West African country of Mali, opens Friday, March 30, with a guided tour, a lecture, and an opening reception. The opening events, along with gallery admission, are free and open to the public.

YMCA Frisbee Golf (grades 2-5th) Frisbee or Disc Golf is a game in which players throw a flying disc into a basket or at a target. The object of the game is to complete the course with the fewest number of throws. No experience necessary. We’ll provide the instruction and equipment and enjoy spring! It's time to get back on the road! Is your bike ready to ride? Learn how to do it yourself with expert help from Ben Witt, owner of Milltown Cycles in Faribault. Ben will teach you how to properly grease the chain, air the tires, lubricate the cables, and change a flat. The last part of class Ben will offer a quick diagnostic on your bike (one bike per person, please) to let you know if there's more serious stuff that needs work before you head out for a ride. Athletic, intricate, dramatic, and moving with ease from humor to intense emotion, Tehreema Mitha is known for its extensive repertoire that spans classical Indian (Bharatanatyam) and contemporary dance genres, as well as for creative fusions of these styles that tell stories intertwined with intricate rhythms and complex movement. The music for each piece is specially composed and produced, as are the colorful costumes.
