Fall is beautiful on the prairies -- asters and goldenrods are in bloom and many different grasses have fully developed seed heads. Seeds and pods of many of the earlier blooming plants are still obvious and easy to identify. Cowling Arboretum Director Nancy Braker and Arboretum Manager Matt Elbert will help you identify the late season bloomers and fill you in on the details of the prairie restoration project at Carleton College. Tuesday, Sept. 21, 5:30-7 p.m. Meet at the Arboretum kiosk in front of the Carleton Recreation Center. This field trip is free and open to the public. Contact Nancy Braker (nbraker@carleton.edu or 507-222-4543) for more information. | 22
