norway flagCelebrate Norwegian Constitution Day at the annual St. Olaf Syttende Mai breakfast on Saturday, May 17, from 7 to 9 a.m. in the Kings Dining Room. The event will be hosted by the St. Olaf College Norwegian Department and Norwegian House.

The traditional Norwegian breakfast will feature a variety of hot and cold delicacies. The menu will include a variety of breads and crackers; cheeses, such as goat cheese and Jarlsberg; meats and fish, such as sardines, pickled herring and anchovies; dessert waffles; pastries and almond cake; and fresh fruit.

Our Central Park is entered in the America in Bloom Competition!

Volunteers Laurie Brackee & Christie Clarke have selected flats (and more flats) of gorgeous annuals to be planted THIS Saturday, May 17 from 9 AM to Noon. We need your help!

The Northfield Tennis Association (NTA) is sponsoring a "Tennis Block Party" at the Northfield High School Courts on Saturday, May 17, 2008, from 10:30 a.m. to Noon.

Tennis players of ALL ages and abilities are invited! Bring your racket and be ready to have some fun on the courts. If you haven't played in a while, just stop by - we'll have rackets available to use.

book coverAuthor Alice Tanghe, will discuss and sign copies of her book, The Minnesota Homegrown Cookbook on Saturday, May 17 at Just Food Co-op in Northfield at 11:00 am. Preregistration is recommended for this free event by calling 507-650-0106 or talking with a cashier at the Co-op.

Alice will discuss some of the 100 recipes from 30 of Minnesota’s outstanding restaurants with a special commitment to locally grown, organic, sustainable cookery that are featured in the book. Mixing the familiar comfort food of Minnesota’s roots in the culture of Northern Europe with the fine new flavors of world cuisine, the book presents a travel guide through Minnesota, with illustrated profiles of each restaurant, chef, and uniquely appetizing locale.

Art-A-Whirl

ArtOrg will be in the large California Building Gallery for this year's Art-A-Whirl. Art-A-Whirl takes place this weekend on Friday from 5 to 10pm, Saturday from noon to 8pm, and Sunday from noon to 5pm. If you have never experienced this you won't be disappointed--invite some friends, grab some dinner, and see some great art! The California Building is located here, and we will be in the main gallery of the building on the first floor (2205 California Street NE, Minneapolis, MN 55418). We will be showcasing many of our future and past activities including the 1000 Print Summer and a sneak-peak of ten of the The Twenty Views of Dundas. Here is a photoset of that gallery which we used in December of 2006 when our Day of the Dead Steamroller Print project exhibit moved there after a successful run in Northfield.

The Northfield Arts Guild Dance Studio presents their Annual Spring Dance Recital. The recital will feature dances from all classes, including Creative Dance, Ballet, Modern, Tap, Jazz, Irish Step and Mexican Folkloric. The performance will take place on March 17th at 3:00pm at the Northfield Middle School. Tickets will be available at the door and are $8 for adults and $5 for students.
