Nice tux! The 2008 ArtOrg Winter concert series started with Peter Lang and Pert' Near Sandstone on January 18--a day when the temperature was a cool minus 10 F at concert time! Now, some eleven weeks, eighteen bands, and over 500 people in attendance later (see the photosets of the concerts here), we are celebrating with an event this Friday we call "ArtProm". ArtProm is being billed with the following taglines: "Northfield's Most Unpredictable Party", "Create a New Memory", and finally "Who Will You Take to ArtProm?"

Start: 10:00 am
End: 3:00 pm

On Saturday, April 5th, three Northfield figure skaters will represent the Northfield Skating School in their first skating competition, the Farmington Spring Festival. The competition will take place at the Schmitz-Maki Arena, 114 West Spruce St in Farmington, and will include skaters from clubs all over Minnesota. Fans and spectators are welcome.

The skaters participating are Sofie Jokela, a Junior at NHS skating to a piece by Rodruigo; Hattie Ryan, also a Junior at NHS skating to a Santana medley; and Anna Sheehan, a 7th grader at Northfield Middle School skating to a song by Angels and Airwaves. Sofie and Hattie have been skating since 2006 and Anna has been skating since the Northfield Skating School was established in 2005. All of them volunteer as Skating Assistants with the Northfield Skating School.

Matt Arthur Yes, yes, we're all ready for spring to finally arrive, but the real question is: are you ready to rock?

Matt Arthur and the Bratlanders are raring to heat things up a bit with an April 5 appearance at the Tavern Lounge in beautiful downtown Northfield. After a historic, groundhog-defeating performance at the Cow in February, we're planning to unleash a batch of new tunes into our repertoire of original foot-stompin' protest songs, hollerin' gospel blues, and classic covers from folks like Johnny Cash, Leadbelly, Blind Lemon Jefferson and Hank Williams.

Can't wait that long? Check out a YouTube video featuring some highlights from our last Tavern appearance.
