Zumbro River Art Splash
Zumbrota Area Arts Council and Pine Area People for the Arts again invite everyone to attend the 3rd annual Zumbro River Art Splash, Iron Pour and Concert, Saturday, September 13, 2008.
More than 30 artists and authors are showing their creations at their studios in Oronoco, Pine Island and Zumbrota, and also at central locations at the Public Library and Crossings in Zumbrota and at City Hall in Pine Island. Hours for the event are 10:00 am–4:00 pm. Admission to all studios is free. Brochures, including a map to all the studios, events, and list of artists, will be available at area merchants, Crossings gallery in Zumbrota, and on the website www.zaac.org or by calling Crossings at 507-732-7616.
The Iron Pour is also returning for the 3rd year. Foundry specialists will begin melting iron beginning at about 2:00 pm near Crossings. Participants interested in making their own custom designed cast iron artwork may register on our website.There is no cost to watch the thrilling action as the molten iron is poured over the carved sand molds starting around 7:00 pm.
ZAAC will also sponsor a free concert during the Iron Pour. The energetic five-piece original Americana band Grayson from Minneapolis will perform from 7:30–9:30 pm in the area between the State Theatre and Crossings. Find out more about the band at www.myspace.com/graysonband.
