Weekend Happenings (June 6-8, 2008)
There's plenty, as always, going on this weekend. So dodge the rain and take in the town. Tonight, Friday, ArtOnWater has an exhibit closing reception for "Medicine Dream Journeys" – enjoy refreshments with the artists 3-4 p.m. and then walk across the bridge the Contented Cow for Occasional Jazz from 5 to 7 p.m. followed by the classic quintet, Dolce, from 7 to 8:45. Kim Bloom will be strumming at the HideAway 7-9 and Lonesome Dan Kase mixes ragtime and bluegrass at the Tavern Lounge starting at 8.
If the weather holds for Saturday, consider taking the whole family for some vintage baseball (1870’s rules and attire) 1 p.m. at St. Olaf, Kim Bloom will be at the HideAway again from 7 to 9 p.m., and later (8ish or so) catch Sprucetop Review at the Cow and/or Jon Manners at the Tavern.
On Sunday – there’s Politics and a Pint 6 p.m. at the Cow for “lightly moderated” discussion of local politics.
Look for details on these and the rest of the month’s fare in the June Northfield Entertainment Guide, downloadable here, online at northfieldguide.com and in print at hotspots around town and in the gray sidewalk boxes in downtown along Division.
