VIDEO: Northfield School Board Meeting (January 13, 2014)

The Northfield School Board met for both its annual organizational meeting and its regular meeting on Monday, January, 13, 2014. Packets for both meetings can be found here

In the brief organizational meeting, Ellen Iverson was re-elected as chair, Julie Pritchard was elected as vice-chair, and Noel Stratmoen and Anne Maple were re-elected as clerk and treasurer respectively. 

Highlights of the regular meeting included:

  • Approval of the superintendent's recommendation to move the DCD-Moderate special education program from Sibley to Greenvale Park Elementary to make room for another full-day kindergarten classroom at Sibley. For more about this, see Erin O'Neil's story in the Northfield News
  • Approval of a proposal for a school district demographic study to be conducted by former state demographer Hazel Reinhart.
  • Presentation of annual reports from Prairie Creek Community School and Arcadia Charter School, both of which are authorized by the school district.

The next regularly-scheduled school board meeting will be held on Monday, January 27, at 7:00 pm, in the high school media center.
