Video Artist Andres Tapia Urzua Visits St. Olaf
Born in the U.S. and raised in Chile, electronic media artist, Andres Tapia Urzua explores the liminality of a cross-cultural, cross-technological identity through a hybrid practice of video, music, performance and installation. Fusing aesthetic, theoretical and political issues, Tapia-Urzua offers a poignant and fascinating look at cultural identity –where social alienation, high-tech environments and the poetics of globalization are represented in sharp and accessible ways.
Tapia-Urzua’s work has been published and exhibited in such venues as the Pacific Film Archive in Berkeley, California; the Global Multimedia Interface in London, UK; the Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh, PA and the Biennial of Video and Electronic Arts in Santiago, Chile.( Interview at: http://www.braintrustdv.com/interviews/uncommon-senses.html)
