Transition Town training to be held in Northfield June 13-14, 2009

Join local activists and sponsors of Transition Northfield: Relocalizing Community Activity

The idea behind it is simple (!): communities need to address the possibility of living with less oil available (or at least becoming increasingly less affordable) and a transition could be coupled with strengthening local systems that people have “learned” to access less and less. Our area has a strong and growing sustainable agriculture sector, two colleges committed to pursuing  greener building and lifestyle options, a slew of community organizations and activists willing to challenge conventional practices, and sit on city-sponsored boards.

Community ResourceBank zConference Room, Saturday 6-13-09 9-5 pm, and Sunday 6-14-09 9-5 pm. See registration information at: www.transitionus.org or call Karen Olson 507-645-2967.

TRANSITION TRAINING COMES TO MINNESOTA!

Transition Northfield, a small collection of motivated individuals, has come together to ask:
For all those aspects of life that our community needs in order to sustain itself and thrive, how do we significantly increase resilience (in response to peak oil), drastically reduce carbon emissions (in response to climate change) and greatly strengthen our local economy (in response to economic instability)?

The Transition Movement is a vibrant, international grassroots movement that seeks to build community resilience in the face of such challenges as peak oil, climate change and the economic crisis. It represents one of the most promising  ways of engaging people in strengthening their  communities against the effects of these challenges, resulting in a life that is more abundant, fulfilling, equitable and socially connected.

Transition Northfield is delighted to announce a weekend training workshop designed for people who are thinking of creating a transition initiative or who have already begun.
