St. Olaf Chapel Choir & St. Olaf Orchestra perform Mendelssohn's ELIJAH
This Sunday, at 3:30pm in Boe Memorial Chapel, the St. Olaf Chapel Choir and St. Olaf Orchestra will perform Felix Mendelssohn's grand oratorio, Elijah. They will be joined by soprano Tracey Gorman, tenor Brian Frutiger, mezzo-soprano Lexa Ferrill, and organist John Ferguson. Kyle Ferrill of DePauw University in Indiana will be singing the title role of Elijah.
Mendelssohn's Elijah tells the story of the Old Testament prophet: his battle with the Priests of Baal, his struggle to escape from Jezebel and her minions, and his assumption into heaven in a fiery chariot. It is a magnificent work filled with drama that has become the template for many 19th- and 20th-century choral/orchestral works.
This event is free and open to the public, and will also be streamed and archived at:
