Saying "thanks" for making downtown beautiful

Have you noticed all the beautiful plantings in downtown and the surrounding area? Join Northfield in Bloom (NIB) on Wednesday, August 25 in Bridge Square at 6 p.m. to show your appreciation to the volunteers and NIB partners that helped to make it happen.

Phlox

Mayor and Honorary Chair of NIB Mary Rossing will make a brief statement and then we would like to acknowledge Northfield Area Foundation and the Northfield Garden Club for their financial support as well as local businesses for adopting the practice of beautifying our town. Finally, we will distribute tokens of appreciation to a few outstanding individuals, both paid and un-paid, for their undying and sometimes self-sacrificing commitment to continue this effort. It is because of all of the above, that we can be proud of our beautiful community. A light dessert of cupcakes and lemonade will be provided.

Among those recognized will be Judy Code, Karen Adams, and the Mayor's Youth Council

About Northfield in Bloom:

Northfield in Bloom (NIB) is an independent committee whose funding comes from the Northfield Area Foundation and the Northfield Garden Club. In 2008, NIB formed to coordinate Northfield's participation in the America in Bloom contest where the community was judged in eight categories: tidiness; landscaped areas; urban forestry; heritage; community involvement; turf & ground-cover, environmental effort, as well as floral display. Upon completion of the contest, NIB received feedback on potential improvements in our community. Our committee recognizes the benefits to our community in improving these areas and aims to be a catalyst towards that end.
