Rainbow Community Celebration & Interfaith Forum
Next Saturday February 11 there will be an interfaith dialogue at 7pm at First United Church of Christ on the topic of marriage equality featuring Javen Swanson, M. Div. and faith organizer with OutFront MN; Phil Duran, founding member of Lavender Bar Association-MN; and 2 students from Carleton and St. Olaf.
The forum is sponsored by an interfaith collaborative of local churches and colleges, and will be followed by a dessert reception and showcase of local denominations’ work on equal rights and discrimination. Proceeds will benefit ‘Minnesotans United For All Families’ for its educational work on ending LGBT discrimination.
“We’re excited about the multi-church collaboration on this important topic”, said Hortense MacLeod, from the Unitarian Universalist Church, “Response from faith communities to the issue of LGBT discrimination has really grown around the country. We encourage Northfielders to come out to hear Javen Swanson, a dynamic speaker, enjoy some great desserts, and put their support towards a good cause”.
Tickets: $10, $5 students; available at Monkey See, Monkey Read bookstore, 425 Division Street, Northfield, MN.
