Pick from the Bountiful Harvest at Riverwalk Market Fair and then Head for the Studio ArTour
This Saturday at Riverwalk Market Fair it’s time to stock up on the harvest’s root vegetables, squash, herbs and apples while enjoying culinary treats from skilled food artisans. Afterwards, head to the Studio ArTour and visit the 52 artists and 24 art studios open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in Northfield, Cannon Falls and Faribault. Tour maps are available at Riverwalk Market Fair, downtown shops and www.StudioArTour.com. (Note, last Saturday’s Fair was closed due to the threat of lightening in the forecast. The Fair is open along the riverfront through October.)
Featured Food Artisan: Kathy Jandro
Kathy Jandro’s baking business called Kathy’s Kolachy, named after her signature pastry, is featured this Saturday. Jandro describes herself as “a full-blooded Czech” and says she has been teaching the next generation in her family how to make her home-baked kolaches. From now through December she will give fair-goers a chance to also develop a taste for Czechoslovakian sweet breads in addition to her energy bars.
Featured Business: The Thrifty Parrot
The Thrifty Parrot (http://www.thriftyparrot.com/) is a fun and trendy consignment clothing store located at 507 Water Street South in Northfield. Shoppers can find gently used women’s, men's and juniors’ clothing in all sizes. The store also carries an assortment of handbags, scarves, shoes, belts and jewelry, along with lots of winter clothing.
Musical Highlight: Keeley Nichole Susienka
Songwriter and performer Keeley Nichole Susienka is a St. Olaf College student who plays guitar and sings. Eclectic influences in her songwriting include Tracy Chapman, Elvis Costello, Ingrid Michaelson, Ani DiFranco, and Tegan and Sara.
