Northfield Public Library Offers Free Job Search Workshop
Job seekers and those looking for a job or career change are invited to a job search workshop in the meeting room of the Northfield Public Library on Thursday, April 30 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
Workshop presenters are Sara Nagel Newberg and Eileen Shimota. Together Newberg and Shimota have over 25 years of experience in career development counseling, participating on hiring committees, and serving in the employer role. They have recently started their own career consulting business focusing on job search, resume writing, and preparing for the interview.
“We see articles and news stories every day about layoffs and the growing numbers of people who are unemployed. While there are many resources available for the job hunter, the public library is available more than 60 hours a week and has resources for all kinds of job seekers – from the high school student looking for a summer job to the recently-laid off professional. The Job Search Workshop is designed to give participants access to professional career counseling.” Lynne Young, Library Director said.
Jamie Stanley, Reference Librarian, said, “The Job Search Workshop will offer an introduction to the new business and employment resources area we are developing at the library. It is free and open to anyone interested, but we do recommend registering.”
The Friends of the Northfield Public Library raised money for the Business and Employment Resources area at their 2008 Spelling Bee. Please call the library at 645-1802 to register and/or make disability accommodations.
