Northfield "Prof Rockers" The Counterfactuals Featured in Fantastic Triple Bill at Minneapolis' Acadia Cafe

Northfield buzz band, The Counterfactuals, will perform tomorrow night as part of a fantastic triple bill at the Acadia Cafe in Minneapolis (located in the University of Minnesota's West Bank neighborhood). Minneapolis, you say? All the way to the "big city"?!? Well, folks, this gig is definitely worth the drive.
Delivering golden pop nuggets with a lively dose of twang, The Counterfactuals are garnering ever-growing acclaim -- in addition to being voted Northfield's "Best Band" in 2010, the band is getting air-time on 89.3 The Current (Minnesota Public Radio's station formatted exclusively for the hipster audience) and were also featured on The Current's "Local Show" and blog as "a local band that deserves must-hear status." http://blog.thecurrent.org/music/counterfactuals.
The band refers to their music as "prof rock" because all four members of the band are Northfield college professors. Daniel Groll and Jason Decker are philosophy professors at Carleton College, Andy Flory is a music professor at Carleton, and Mike Fuerstein is also a philosophy professor -- but across town at St. Olaf College. Demo samples of their music can be found at http://thecounterfactuals.bandcamp.com/; the band hopes to release their debut album this fall.
Joining The Counterfactuals tomorrow night are Panoramic & True, an 8-piece orchestral folk-pop ensemble hailing from Chicago. (Find them on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/panoramicandtrue). Coincidentally, Daniel Groll and Panoramic & True's lead singer/songerwriter John Lennox used to be in a band together (Groll came to Northfield from Chicago). So tomorrow night's gig is especially sweet because it will reunite these two great musicians.
Opening for The Counterfactuals and Panoramic & True are The Mevilles, rounding out a fantastic triple bill of music. The Acadia Cafe is located at 329 Cedar Avenue in Minneapolis. For complete details, set times, directions and parking information visit the Acadia Cafe's website at http://www.acadiacafe.com/.
By the way, the Acadia is renowned for their extensive selection of craft beers (and while you're at it, order some fries -- and a quesadilla -- decadently delicious).
