Northfield Hosts Four-Day Junebug Festival of Music

Featuring some of Minnesota’s best bands, Northfield presents the Junebug Festival of Music, Wednesday, June 24 through Saturday, June 27. Performances are free and will take place at venues located throughout Northfield’s renowned historic downtown district. Located just 35 miles south of the Twin Cities, Northfield’s Junebug Music Fest is the destination for great live music, delicious food and beverage, and fun for all. Whether you’re a fan of blues, jazz, folk or good ol’ rock-n-roll, Junebug has it all,” says event coordinator Julie Bixby. “Last year’s fest was a huge success and this year is even bigger and better – we’ve got an amazing line-up of bands and musicians.”

Highlights of the Junebug Festival of Music include performances by Gospel Gossip (named Best New Band in 2008 by City Pages), Meredith Fierke (a Cities 97 favorite), acclaimed jam-band Down Lo, heartland roots rockers Draper Daniels, and acoustic pop duo Fish Frye.

Other scheduled acts include the Bridgewater Ramblers, Burning Chrome, Carey Langer, Gumption Trap, Heritage, Key West Rejects, the Mark Joseph Project, Marty Anderson and the Goods, Matt Arthur and the Bratlanders, New Moon Trio, Occasional Jazz, Relativity, Rice County All-Stars (RCAs), Son of a Gun, The New Deal, the Norwegian Cowboy, the Options, and Toaster Fork!

Venues include The Contented Cow Pub, The Tavern Lounge, J. Grundy’s Rueb ‘N’ Stein, and The Hideaway, all located along Division Street in historic downtown Northfield, a pedestrian-friendly destination for quality dining and eclectic shopping.

The Contented Cow Pub is located along the Cannon River at 302B Division Street, The Tavern Lounge is inside the Archer House River Inn at 212 Division Street, J. Grundy’s Rueb ‘N’ Stein is located at 503 Division Street, and The Hideaway Coffeehouse and Wine Bar is located at 421 Division Street.
