The Minor Planets are coming to Northfield!
Mark your calendars for Friday, September 21 -- The Minor Planets are making their Northfield debut at the Tavern Lounge, located in the Archer House River Inn on Division Street in beautiful downtown Northfield. The two will perform from 8 to 11:30 pm and there's no cover charge. A not-to-be-missed opportunity to see one of the state's best country and bluegrass duos!
The Minor Planets are Eric Christopher and Dana Thompson, along with a revolving cast of alternative country, bluegrass and jazz guest musicians. Both are critically acclaimed throughout the nation -- for their collaborative projects and solo efforts. Eric is an award-winning bluegrass fiddler and Dana was voted best female vocalist by the City Pages. The duo were also pleased as punch to take home trophies from this year's Minnesota State Fair Vocal Duet contest! Their music has been featured on Minnesota Public Radio's "Heartland Radio," 89.3 The Current, and right here in Northfield on KYMN.
Their latest CD release, "Shadow In The Water," combines a soulful bluegrass and country sensibility with an epic, orchestrated sound.
Paul Riley from Country Music People in the UK writes:
“[★★★★★] There is nothing minor about The Minor Planets. This is a band who write incredible songs, have a unique feel for music, and are doing something a bit different. [Shadow in the Water] is a disc I will return to many times. It is special.”
