Marc Reigel & Friends at Contented Cow Thursday Evening
Marc Reigel, center, shown here at Froggy Bottoms in May of 2010, will sing again with Carleton Night Crawlers band mate Barry Gillespie (left) during an oldies sing-along with Marc Reigel & Friends during Taste of Northfield at the Contented Cow, 8-10 p.m., on Thursday, June 16. The Night Crawlers reigned as Carleton's favorite band in the '60s, attracting plenty of Ole and townie fans as well to dances at Sayles-Hill Gym and the Armory. Marc will also be joined by fellow Owatonnan Bonnie Jean Flom, NHS principal Joel Leer, teachers Ray Coudret, Kevin Dahle, Tony Mathison, Tom McKown and rock 'n' roll kids in singing hits from the '50s and '60s. Songbooks with words will be provided. The opening medley is "White Sport Coat and a Pink Carnation," "Proud Mary" and "Great Balls of Fire," followed by 27 other favorites of this era and concluding with the Night Crawlers' original hit "You Say" from 1966. As Bob Seger sang, "Today's music ain't got the same soul, I like that old time rock 'n' roll." If you like it, too, come to the Contented Cow Thursday evening and sing along.
