JOIN the discussion about local food and farming

Friday, February 20 from 6-9 pm the local chapter of the Sustainable Farmers Association will host a Community Soup Supper and Discussion about the many connections and possibilities between our farmers and our eaters. This event is held in conjuntion with the MN Sustainable Farmers Assoc annual gathering to be held on Saturday at St Olaf.

During a simple soup/bread supper crafted from local ingredients, attendees will hear from several panelists regarding the home economics of eating locally grown and produced food, current practices and activities of our area sustainable farmers, more information on the "why" eat local campaigns are important tools, and how we might begin building our own local food system.

The meat of the event, however, is the two hour discussion allotted for an exchange of ideas, plans, hopes and actions for our food future. What are resident's concerns? What might a regional diet consist of? Do we need more area farmland? What do our sustainable farmers need from us...what do we need from them?

Please join with us in the Buntrock Commons at St Olaf on Friday, February 20th. The event is free of charge (free will donations appreciated), but a ticket will be required for dinner. Tickets can be obtained from the Just Food Co-op, by e-mailing Kathy Zeman at kzeman@kmwb.net, or calling Angel Dobrow at 612-216-1206. Bring your family, your friends, and your participation!
