League of Women Voters Presents: This Week in Local Government

This month at the Hospital Board:

• Board approves changes to obstetric care offerings, including a 12-month trial period for "trial of labor after Caesarean" and increased services for some high-risk pregnancies
• Lease and purchase agreement approved for office and clinic space in Elko-New Market; board aims to hold off competition from Metro area
• Board chair meeting with candidates for vacant board position; League observer expresses concern over focus on "professional" candidates, possibly at the expense of underrepresented and underserved residents.
