I Cantanti and Le Donne Cantanti, Northfield's Chamber Choirs directed by Wayne Kivell, will present a concert at the Carleton Concert Hall, Carleton College, on Sunday, Nov. 30th at 7:30 p.m.
The choirs will open and close the first section of the program with “Let All the World in Every Corner Sing,” the first setting by Englishman Ralph Vaughan Williams, and the last by Northfield’s Daniel Kallman. Other compositions in the first section are by four Americans, Jeff Ames, Z. Randall Stroope, Robert Young, and Alfred Reed.
Part two of the program will consist of music for the Christmas season, including “Ding, Dong, Merrily on High,” “There is No Rose,” a Dutch carol “Welcome Jesu,” “The Angel” by Sergei Rachmaninoff, and “Once in Royal David’s City” in a new setting by Dan Kallman.
Music from Scandinavia will close the concert. Ballads and lullabies from Sweden, Iceland, Finland and Denmark will precede several selections for choir and brass from Benny Andersson’s musical, “Kristina fran Duvemala.”
Accompanists for the ensembles are Laurie Williams and Richard Collman. Soloists on the program will be Gary Carlson, Kayla Berger, Donna McMillan, Mary Carlsen, Dan Schonebaum, Brent Kivell, Dan Kallman, and Ellen Haefner.
