Ian Thomas Alexy Kicks-Off Another Big Weekend of Great Live Music at The Tavern Lounge

Ian Thomas Alexy's "Born On The Day Of The Dead"

Acclaimed singer/songwriter Ian Thomas Alexy returns to Northfield's Tavern Lounge on Thursday, Nov. 8 from 8:30 to 11 p.m., touring in support of his latest CD release, "Born On The Day Of The Dead." A track from the new CD was recently featured on 89.3 The Current's "Local Show." The album is an introspective solo recording about his birthday, which is on All Saints Day, and the Day Of The Dead, November 1st.

Known for both his work as a solo artist, and his with the national-touring americana roots duo Hobo Nephews of Uncle Frank, this marks the popular artist's eighth release since relocating to Minnesota and starting CIC Records in 2004 with his brother and bandmate, Teague Alexy. Ian Thomas Alexy has toured the country many times over with Hobo Nephews and as a solo artist.

The following night, Friday, Nov. 9 from 8 to 11:30 p.m., The Tavern is pleased to present Art Vandelay, an ensemble that plays a fresh mix of Americana, indie-rock, and laid-back country folk that is "impossibly catchy." (Duluth News-Tribune). With their rootsy groove and clever song craft, Art Vandalay is a band that is impossible NOT to have a good time experiencing their energetic shows! "well crafted folk-rock, at times pure mellow magic." (Twin Cities Daily Planet).

Saturday, Nov. 10 from 8 to 11:30 p.m., it's the return of Craig & Maren Wasner. This very popular, hometown, father/daughter duo present a lively blend of folk and country with a smattering of blues and funk -- resulting in a live performance that's not to be missed!

The Tavern Lounge is located in the Archer House River Inn at 212 Division Street in downtown Northfield. For more information, call (507) 663-0342 or visit www.tavernofnorthfield.com.
